How Membership Helps
Our seminarians attend one of three seminaries across the United States. College level seminarians attend St. Joseph Abbey & Seminary College in Covington, LA. Seminarians will attend two to four years and earn an undergraduate degree in Philosophy.
Theologians attend either Assumption Seminary in San Antonio or Theological College of Catholic University of America in Washington DC. Seminarians attend for four years and earn a graduate degree in Theology. During these four years, seminarians will serve a Pastoral year assignment at a parish located in the Diocese of Fort Worth.
A vocation flows from the heart of God and blossoms in the good soil of faithful people.
Pope Francis, Message for the 51st World Day of Prayer for Vocations

The education of seminarians culminates in their ordination at the end of their graduate studies. These are the items that your St. John Paul II Shepherd’s Guild membership provides for our seminarians during their formation and education:
- Tuition
- Books
- Room & Board
- Living Expenses
- Health Insurance
- Formation Programs
In fiscal year 2018, members of the Shepherd’s Guild provided more than $595,000 for the education of our seminarians.
